We're looking for an experienced and hands-on Group IT Manager to lead and evolve the IT function across our growing engineering business. This is a key leadership role that combines technical oversight with strategic direction and people management. As Group IT Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of IT across the business from infrastructure and cyber security through to systems development, digital transformation, and IT support. You’ll lead a capable team of four direct reports and work closely with the executive team to align technology with our broader business goals.

This role offers a mix of hands-on technical involvement and high-level planning. It would suit someone who enjoys variety, values continuous improvement, and knows how to bring a clear, forward-looking IT strategy to life.

Technical & Operational Oversight

• Manage and maintain the business’s IT infrastructure across multiple sites including networks, servers, storage, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS);
• Oversee business-critical applications and systems, including ERP, CAD and engineering tools, and collaboration platforms like Microsoft 365;
• Ensure robust cyber security practices are in place, including policies, threat detection, backups, and disaster recovery planning;
• Lead IT support operations, ensuring high availability and responsiveness across the business; and
• Manage IT procurement, licensing, budgeting, and vendor relationships.

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and develop a high-performing IT team with four direct reports covering infrastructure, support, and systems;
• Work closely with the executive and operational teams to understand business needs and shape the IT roadmap;
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and digital transformation;
• Stay across emerging technologies and advise on their potential impact and application in the business; and
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and legislation (e.g. ISO, GDPR, local data protection laws).

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience in a senior IT leadership role, ideally within an engineering, manufacturing, or industrial environment;
• Strong technical understanding across infrastructure, cloud services, business systems, and cyber security;
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage projects, and align IT operations with broader business goals;
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills you’ll be working closely with everyone from technical staff to the executive team; and
• Relevant qualifications in IT, Computer Science or similar; certifications in Microsoft, Cisco, ITIL, or similar are an advantage.
