The role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Part-Time Accountant to join our finance team on a part time basis 3 full days, 4 or 5 shorter days.

The ideal candidate will have solid accounting qualifications, experience in managing payroll processes, and knowledge of Australian tax administration. This role involves supporting the Group Accountant with various tasks, ensuring accuracy and compliance in financial operations.

Your duties will include:

Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including data entry and ledger maintenance.

Monitor and track aged receivables to identify and manage problematic accounts

Manage post-payroll activities, including preparation and lodgement of payroll tax returns

Reconcile bank and credit card statements and track discrepancies in ledgers and accounts.

Assist in the preparation of financial reports.

Assist with administering internal processes as they relate to payables and receivables.

Administer tax-related tasks, including preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).

Maintain accurate tax records and ensure compliance with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations.

Identify opportunities for process improvements and take initiative to implement changes that enhance efficiency and accuracy.

About you:

Must be an Australian / New Zealand resident or citizen. Sponsorship is not offered for this role. (No temporary visas, unfortunately).

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Proven experience in accounting and payroll management.

Proficiency in accounting software & Microsoft Office 365.

Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.

Either comes from professional services background (worked in a CA/CPA practice), experience dealing with medium size clients or a grounding in professional services then moved into a commercial role working with a mid-size business.

Have a hands-on approach and broad experience, working with a range of stakeholders.

Have worked across multiple accounting systems and can pick up new systems quickly.

Have a focus and passion for process improvement.
