Job Summary:
The Managing Director will lead the development and profitable growth of Penske Australia Leasing, Maintenance, and Rental operations, with a sharp focus on trucking and transportation fleet management. This executive role is responsible for crafting and executing a long-range strategy that drives efficiency in fleet utilization, maintenance technologies, and P&L performance. Key responsibilities include optimizing fleet operations, advancing maintenance excellence, and spearheading market expansion across Australia.
The Managing Director will establish strategic partnerships with Penske Power Systems and other Penske affiliates, ensuring seamless collaboration and alignment with Penske’s global standards. This leader will cultivate a high-performance culture, focusing on profitability, operational efficiency, and top-tier customer service in the transportation sector. Regular reporting to the Penske Corporate Chairman of the Board on strategies and operational results is required.
Responsibilities:
Drive Strategic Growth: Create and execute multi-year plans to grow Rental, Lease, and Maintenance operations while achieving fleet optimization and transportation P&L targets.
Fleet Management Excellence: Oversee end-to-end fleet management strategies, including asset acquisition, maintenance, and utilization to maximize uptime and profitability.
P&L Leadership: Execute business plans with a focus on exceeding revenue, operating margins, and market share growth within the transportation and trucking sectors.
Operational Efficiency: Implement Penske best practices and advanced technologies to streamline processes and improve fleet reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Business Expansion: Collaborate with Penske Corporation and Penske Australia Business Leaders to identify and penetrate new markets, expanding our leasing and rental footprint.
Customer Experience & Account Management: Deliver exceptional customer service to strengthen long-term partnerships and increase share of wallet with key transportation clients.
Team Leadership: Develop a high-performing leadership team capable of managing complex fleet operations, ensuring readiness for next-level leadership roles.
Strategic Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide quarterly updates to Penske Corporation on fleet performance, P&L results, and market expansion.
Partnership Management: Build and nurture relationships with Penske Power Systems and other key partners to enhance collaborative growth and operational success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business required; Master’s Degree preferred.
15+ years of executive experience in Truck Leasing and Fleet Management with full P&L responsibility.
10 years of leadership experience overseeing transportation operations, specifically in fleet planning and logistics.
Advanced understanding of the transportation and trucking industry, including fleet utilization, maintenance operations, and supply chain logistics.
Proven expertise in commercial vehicle leasing, financial acumen, and operational scalability within the trucking sector.
Executive presence with experience engaging internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors and Corporate Executives.
Demonstrated success in strategic planning, customer account management, and fleet optimization with measurable P&L results.
Strategic thinker with a growth mindset and the ability to adapt quickly to shifts in the transportation landscape.
Strong coaching and leadership skills, with a focus on developing Ready Now leaders for higher responsibilities.
