About Us?
The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
The Quality and Innovation Unit provides leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of services, programs and models of care for improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and Well-being. The Unit oversees key functions of healthcare quality and safety, planning, public health, data and health information management, innovation in service design and development, digital innovation, and evaluation and research.
About the Role?
This position provides operational leadership of a suite of IUIH Network “backbone” functions, including public health, data, research, quality and safety, service development, and digital innovation. In effect, these core functions support evidence-driven development, monitoring and continuous improvement in health and related services across the IUIH Network.
What will you do?
- Drive a culture of integrity, quality, innovation and excellence, creating an environment that enables the Q&I business unit to thrive
- On behalf of the IUIH Network Data and Research Governance Committee, provide direct line management and operational support for the Director, IUIH Network Knowledge and Research Centre, and for enactment of the vision articulated for the Centre
- Provide leadership in articulating the responsibilities, functions and capabilities of the Q&I Business Unit, and in the engagement and provision of service by the Q&I Business Unit to its customers, in particular, to other IUIH Business Units and to IUIH Network organisations
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching for Q&I business Unit managers; build, nurture and develop managers’ confidence and capabilities
- Oversee the collaborative development of business unit workplans and support managers to participate in the development of – and adherence to – goals and targets for their areas of operation
- Contribute to the development and revision of annual budgets for your areas of responsibility
- Ensure potential revenue streams are optimised; identify where income is unable to keep up with required growth and development and advocate strategically for / contribute directly to identifying and sourcing new and expanded resources
- Demonstrate leadership both within and outside IUIH and the IUIH Network, modelling the IUIH Ways and values in all interactions and representations of IUIH
About You?
- Minimum of 5+ years working in a directly related role / experience
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to build strong and productive relationships across a wide range of disciplines, levels of management, and people
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of comprehensive primary health care systems
- Demonstrated knowledge, skill and experience in areas of healthcare service development, quality and safety, data management, knowledge-building, and continuous system improvement
- Experience in leading and managing high-performing teams
- Current Criminal History Check
- Current Blue Card
- Current Disability Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card)
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
- Post-graduate qualification in health / public health field
