Are you a confident leader with a passion for community safety investigations, enforcement, and making a genuine difference where you live and work? We’re on the lookout for a motivated and experienced Community Safety Team Leader to join our dedicated Community Safety team and lead the way in delivering compliance services that protect, support, and build trust within our community.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll supervise and mentor a team of Community Safety Investigation Officers in managing complex investigations and enforcing local and state legislation – from dangerous dog incidents to illegal dumping and fire hazards. You’ll bring strong investigation experience, lead with integrity and work closely with legal processes to represent the City in prosecution matters.

You’ll also have the opportunity to drive innovation and service improvements, contribute to community engagement initiatives, and support the safety and wellbeing of our people and places.

Location: City of Melville Operations Centre

Salary: $89,406.92 - $95,984.49 pro-rata p.a. + 11.5% Super (with a 5% increase anticipated from 1 July 2025)

Employment Type: 2 Permanent, Full Time Positions

What You’ll Be Responsible For

Lead, support and supervise a dynamic investigations team

Provide expert advice and ensure investigations meet legal and procedural standards

Represent the City in court and legal proceedings

Handle escalated complaints with professionalism and care

Drive operational planning, performance tracking, and service delivery improvements

Promote a culture of safety, teamwork and accountability

Champion community awareness of safety and compliance

What You’ll Need to Succeed

Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence

Current Police Clearance or willingness to obtain

Significant experience in local law enforcement or compliance investigations

Strong knowledge of local and state legislation, with the confidence to appear in court

Proven animal handling experience

Proven leadership and team management skills

Excellent communication and conflict resolution abilities

ROCS 1 and 2 or other relevant qualifications are highly regarded
