Love working outdoors and building things that last? We’re looking for hands-on team players to join our Concrete Maintenance crew to help keep the City of Melville’s streets, paths and public spaces safe and in great shape. Join a team that keeps the City moving. Solid work. Real impact.

The City has two vacant positions. We are seeking one Concrete Maintenance Team Member and one Concrete Maintenance Team Leader.

About the Opportunity

Concrete Maintenance Team Member

In this role, you’ll be mixing and pouring concrete, setting up formwork and laying bricks and paving. You’ll operate power tools and small plant equipment, help with traffic management on worksites and support your team leader with daily reporting. Safety and quality are key, and your efforts will help maintain essential infrastructure across the City.

You’re someone who takes pride in a job well done, enjoys physical outdoor work and thrives in a team environment. You understand the importance of safety on the job. You’ve got good communication and time management skills and ideally some experience with concrete work and operating tools.

Concrete Maintenance Team Leader

In this position, you’ll be a key part of our Civil Maintenance Team, leading concrete repair and maintenance work from start to finish. You will have a variety of tasks such as brick paving, repairing bus seats, pouring and finishing concrete, setting up formwork and even managing basic traffic control when required. This is a varied role where no two days will be the same.

Your day-to-day will include but not limited to:

Leading a team of concrete maintenance workers

Using and maintaining tools, equipment and machinery

Carrying out all aspects of concrete work, brick and slab paving

Ensuring safety standards and procedures are followed at all times

Liaising with other teams, contractors and the community

Completing daily progress reports and assisting with planning

This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for someone who’s ready to take the next step in their career or bring their existing leadership skills to guide a hard-working crew. If you enjoy leading by example and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty, this is the role for you.

How to Apply

If you are ready to get involved and make a difference in your community, apply now and help us build a better city, one slab at a time. We strongly advise you to apply as soon as possible by 25 May 2025. The City reserves the right to close this advertisement before the closing date.

Please provide:

A comprehensive resume that outlines your skills and experience

A cover letter of no more than 2 pages addressing the Essential Requirements on the position description attached

Please clearly state which role you are applying for in your cover letter (i.e., Concrete Maintenance Team Member or Concrete Maintenance Team Leader or both).
