Produce Buyer Assistant at an established Asian Grocer chain

We are looking for an experienced buyer with a passion for sourcing, pricing, and developing product ranges who thrives in a dynamic work environment. We ideally would like someone who is interesting in expanding and growing with us.

This is a part time , permanent position with opportunities for professional growth across three stores currently . We are a family run team and are currently in expansion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Sourcing and securing products whilst building long-term relationships with suppliers to meet customer demands and to strengthen our position in the fresh food sector.
• Onsite early mornings at the Melbourne Markets
• Build strong relationships with suppliers to secure quality products, competitive pricing, and exclusive offers.
• Curate a balanced product range, including core and market-specific selections for all stores.
• Collaborate with Store Managers and Department Managers to optimise product presentation, pricing, and merchandising.
• Work with all departments to drive productivity, improve market positioning, and enhance operational efficiency.
• Performance & Budget Accountability

We’re looking for someone with a strong background in product sourcing, range development, and supplier management onsite at the Melbourne Buyers Market, and strong negotiation skills for best competitive pricing .

Skills required:

• proactive in negotiation and relationship building skills with suppliers in person at the market and via telephone.
• Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse people.
• Demonstrated knowledge of consumer trends and price sensitivity.
• Ability to organise and prioritise tasks, work unsupervised and effectively under pressure, solve problems, handle constant interruptions and manage a busy and varied workload.
• Current Victorian driver licence and/or willingness to undertake forklift licence or heavy vehicle licence
