About the opportunity:

Position: Occupational Therapist (Mental Health Clinician)
Vacancy: Fixed term temporary part-time, up to 26/01/2026, with the possibility of extension, not exceeding 12 months
Location: Kirwan Health Campus, Townsville

About the role:

The key purpose of this position is to:

  • Provide occupational therapy mental health practice through the provision of short term co-ordinated case management services and occupational therapy assessment and/or intervention to older persons who suffer from a mental health disorder, or a disorder related to aging complicated by a pre-existing mental disorder.
  • Provide psycho-geriatric consultancy, education and community outreach services to Queensland health and other relevant aged care or mental health care providers within Townsville Health Service District and maintain consultation and liaison services within the northern area as negotiated.
  • Work collaboratively with consumers and multidisciplinary professionals to provide clinical care and a therapeutic environment conducive to the dignity and well being of consumers and carers.

  • Salary range: $39.86 to $58.59 p.h. (HP3)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading

Requirements:

  • Mandatory qualifications (Occupational Therapy) and proof of registration/membership (if applicable).
  • Possession of class C drivers' licence.
  • Travel is a requirement of this position.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
  • Probation period may apply.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted including criminal history clearance.
