Mackay Hospital and Health Service has six hospitals, two multi-purpose health services and four community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The district covers an area of approximately 90,000km2 and provides services to communities of Bowen, Cannonvale, Clermont, Collinsville, Dysart, Glenden, Mackay, Middlemount, Moranbah, Proserpine and Sarina.

Salary Benefits

Remuneration value up to $65,993 p.a. comprising salary between $65.35 p.h. - $71.98 p.h. (L4-L9), employer super contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), professional development allowance, professional development leave 1.6 weeks p.a. About the Position

The Medical Administrative Clinician (MAC) will support Clinicians across the MHHS to improve the quality, completeness, timeliness and accuracy of clinical documentation to enhance patient safety and quality patient care. The MAC will also provide accurate reporting of patient complexity and acuity for Activity Based Funding (ABF).

The position will report to the Director of Clinical Training, Medical Education Unit (MEU) and be based in the Medical Education Unit. This role will also provide service provision to Health Information Services (HIS).

While the main office for the MEU is based at the Mackay Base Hospital, the MAC may complete this role from anywhere in Queensland, providing they have suitable computer access and an appropriate office set up.

Mandatory qualifications/Professional registration/Other requirements

  • Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in “relevant occupation” and be registered with the “relevant agency”.
  • Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) Requirements: It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: measles, mumps, rubella, varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough). Existing staff that are engaged prior to 1 July 2016 are not subject to this condition of employment unless they apply for a role with VPD requirements that is with a different Queensland Health entity (ie one HHS to another HHS, Department to a HHS, or HHS to Department).
  • Hepatitis B Vaccination: Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids must be immunized against Hepatitis B according to the National Health and Medical Research Council Australian Immunisation Handbook and the Queensland Health Infection Control Guidelines.
