Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management (required)

Minimum of 3 years’ industry experience in construction, remedial engineering, or building diagnostics

Strong understanding of building pathology including concrete spalling, waterproofing failures, and structural inadequacies

Experience conducting condition assessments and preparing defect reports, scopes of work, and specifications

Familiarity with relevant codes and legislation including:

Design & Building Practitioners Act 2020 (DBPA)

Home Building Act 1989

National Construction Code (NCC/BCA)

Australian Standards (AS)

Proven ability to develop technical documentation for tendering and construction

Skilled in managing and reviewing tender submissions

Proficiency with design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD (or equivalent design software)

Excellent technical writing and communication skills

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities

Key Responsibilities

Conduct detailed site assessments and prepare condition reports on existing buildings and structures

Carry out diagnostic investigations, including invasive testing, to determine causes of structural or waterproofing failures

Document building defects in compliance with NCC/BCA, AS, and other applicable standards and regulations

Develop technical building reports, including defect analysis, rectification recommendations, scopes of work (SOWs), and specifications (SPECs)

Produce conceptual and remedial designs for new and existing structures

Manage the tendering process, including issuing documentation and evaluating contractor responses

Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors to ensure project expectations are met from design through to delivery

Contribute to project management activities and assist with quality control on-site

Maintain strong professional relationships and proactively identify new business opportunities
