My client is an international EPC contractor who deliver large projects in the infrastructure, renewable energy, and technology sectors. They are seeking a strategic and experienced Human Resources Lead to head up their HR function and drive people-focused initiatives aligned with our business goals. This Sydney-based position is critical to the success of our operations across the Construction and Energy sectors. The successful candidate will bring deep industry knowledge and a proven track record in managing complex labour relations, including union negotiations and dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Provide strategic leadership across all HR functions, including talent acquisition, industrial relations, performance management, workforce planning, and organisational development.
Lead complex labour conflict resolutions and industrial negotiations, particularly with unions such as the ETU and other relevant stakeholders.
Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on all people matters, fostering a high-performance culture aligned with operational needs.
Design and implement HR policies and programs that support compliance, employee engagement, and business outcomes.
Manage change initiatives and workforce transitions in a dynamic and regulated environment.
Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to employment law and industrial agreements.
Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across the organisation.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Minimum 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in senior roles within the Construction and/or Energy sectors.
Demonstrated success in resolving labour disputes and managing union relationships (e.g., ETU, CFMEU, etc.).
In-depth knowledge of Australian employment law and industrial relations frameworks.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
Proven ability to influence senior leadership and contribute to strategic decision-making.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
