Maintenance Worker – Drainage
Wangaratta, VIC | Full-Time | 1 x Temporary until December 2025 and 1 x Permanent role | $63,908 per annum + Super

We’re looking for a hardworking, safety-conscious, and team-oriented Maintenance Worker – Drainage to join the Works & Operations team at the Rural City of Wangaratta. If you love working outdoors, operating machinery, and making a visible impact every day, this is the job for you.

What You’ll Do
Maintain and repair Council’s stormwater drainage systems, including pits, pipes, culverts, and open drains
Operate machinery and vehicles related to drainage maintenance (e.g. jetters, excavators, trucks)
Record inspections, works completed, and time/hours accurately
Follow traffic control procedures to ensure safe worksites for the team and the public
Support other work crews as needed and provide on-the-job guidance to new team members
Suggest practical improvements to work processes and service delivery
What You’ll Bring
Experience in drainage maintenance or construction
Confidence operating plant and equipment related to drainage works
A solid understanding of safety on work sites, with a strong commitment to OH\&S practices
Ability to work as part of a team and follow instructions clearly
Great time management skills and the ability to work independently when required
A customer-focused attitude when interacting with the public
Current Medium Rigid (MR) Driver Licence** (mandatory)
Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card) (mandatory)
Chainsaw Operator Certificate (Trim & Cross-Cut) — preferred but not essential
