About the role

Bethel Disability Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team in Newcastle, NSW. In this casual role, you will be responsible for providing personalized care and support to individuals with disabilities, helping them to live independently and achieve their personal goals.

What you'll be doing

Assisting clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks

Accompanying clients to appointments, social outings, and community events

Encouraging and supporting clients to participate in recreational and educational activities

Documenting client progress and maintaining accurate records

Collaborating with the participant's support team to develop and implement individualised care plans

Advocating for the rights and needs of the participants.

Promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all participants.

What we're looking for

Experience working with individuals with disabilities, preferably in a community-based or in-home setting

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients

Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others

Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

Flexibility and the ability to adapt to the changing needs of participants

A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent.
