What You'll Be Doing
Oversee the preparation of Council’s Annual Financial Statements, Budgets, and Long-Term Financial Plans
Coordinate external audits and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements
Lead, mentor, and support a small finance team to deliver exceptional results
Maintain the integrity of Council’s general ledger, managing end-of-month and end-of-year processes
Administer and enhance Council’s financial systems to meet evolving needs
Provide expert advice on financial regulations, systems, and best practices
Collaborate across departments to support sound forecasting and informed financial decisions
Safeguard data integrity with strong internal controls and risk awareness
What You’ll Bring
Degree in Accounting and membership with CPA or CA ANZ
Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and local government finance
Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, audit coordination, and team leadership
Advanced understanding of digital finance systems and a drive for continuous improvement
Excellent communication skills—you can turn complex data into clear, actionable insights
