The Catering Dept is seeking a fulltime Sous Chef Catering / Catering Chefs and Pastry Chefs to join the team.

The Catering Det is a market leading Sydney caterer, delivering fresh and innovative menus for the office and corporate environments; film and television locations; backstage and festival / outdoor locations.

The Catering Dept leadership team has over 20 years experience in the industry and have carefully selected a team to represent years of experience in catering to Sydney’s corporate, fashion, entertainment and film industry clients. Menus are seasonal and designed around passion for fresh, local ingredients with environmental sustainability in mind. Supplier relationships exist with other local businesses to showcase the best Sydney has to offer with a focus not just on menus, but making a positive contribution to the local community wherever possible.

The Catering Dept employs a team of approx. 30, with a seasonal growth of local team members to allow all menu production and delivery systems to be managed and run in-house. Not only a team of passionate ‘foodies’ and hospitality professionals, the Catering Dept is a young energetic and aims to innovate the way catering solutions are delivered.

About you

You would be passionate chef who is outgoing, reliable and respectful of our all-inclusive workplace. A keen eye for details and general passion for global cuisine. Previous 2 year’s experience in a similar role would strongly be preferred.

About the role

A typical week would start between 5.00am – 6.00am and finish between 12.00pm & 1.00pm, Monday to Friday with paid overtime on offer. Leading the team under the guidance of Head chef, you would ensure that all catering production and orders are fulfilled and executed to a high standard by the specified dispatch time. Sous Chef

Reporting to the Head Chef

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assistance in management, training and supervision of all kitchen staff for all parts of the business;

A hands-on role in food production in each part of the business, predominately production and preparation for corporate catering & events

Responsibility for the daily completion of food preparation lists and set tasks;

Responsibility for food packaging and dispatch of daily catering orders; clear communication with dispatch team/catering manager regarding changes or late dispatches as they arise.

Active involvement in menu development and implementation of seasonal menus

Food stock control, labelling and safe storage;

Food stock ordering and par-level management (including food packaging and platters);

Implementation and maintenance of OH&S practices and hygiene in the kitchen;

Ordering and rostering in accordance with the head chef

Salary package is Base + Super + Overtime

Based in Kingsgrove - parking available onsite
