About Us

This faith based organisation is the Australian Province of an international society that provides services across Australia including in education, seniors living, and spirituality. It also supports a community of religious and manages its property portfolio.

The Role

The Safeguarding Coordinator is responsible ensuring that the Province utilises best practice in protecting children and adults at risk.

The work of the Safeguarding Coordinator includes:

Promoting a culture of safeguarding;

Implementing and promoting safeguarding awareness including initiatives that ensure compliance with Australian Catholic Safeguarding Ltd (ACSL) standards;

Developing content and resources to raising awareness of safeguarding;

Assisting with screening, records management, complaint handling and organisational audits.

Experience:

The person we are looking for will have all or some of the following:

1. Post secondary qualifications in risk management, education, law, psychology, social work or a related field;

2. A comprehensive knowledge of safeguarding and child protection legislation and standards or the capacity to get up to speed quickly;

3. Knowledge of current safeguarding screening processes relating to workers, religious and volunteers;

4. A sound knowledge of various reportable conduct schemes and mandatory reporting;

5. Experience experiences working in compliance or policy development ideally in a not-for-profit human services organisation, ideally a faith-based organisation;

6. Experience working with complex regulatory frameworks and experience with internal and external compliance audits;

7. A comprehensive knowledge of office administration processes and procedures;

8. High level skills in contemporary computer applications including the Microsoft Office suite along with excellent word processing, telephone and diary management skills;

9. Well-developed relational and rapport building skills including the ability to building effective stakeholder relationships that allow you to influentially lead and promote a positive culture of safeguarding;

10. Ability to work with minimal supervision while still being a team player;

11. Willingness to work face to face in an office environment.
