About the role
As a key member of the Compliance and Privacy team within Legal Services, your core responsibility is to ensure the Department upholds it's legal and compliance obligation by overseeing and reporting legislative compliance requirements. Your role will also include:
· Day to day delivery of legislative compliance functions in line with the Legislative Compliance Framework.
· Collaborating with various stakeholders and providing advice on legislative compliance
· Fostering a culture of compliance and accountability
· Identifying and monitoring trends and risk to implement continuous improvement that safeguard legislative compliance
· Preparing reports, submissions briefing notes and track data breaches.

About you
The Legislative Compliance Officer will bring strong capabilities in critical thinking, effective communication skills and stakeholder engagement. You will have proven experience in governance and demonstrate understanding of legislation with the ability to apply it in a practical context. Your commitment to implement awareness and encourage a culture of compliance will make you an ideal candidate.
Key Knowledge and experience
· Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in privacy and privacy compliance.
Essential requirements of the role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.
