The role
We are currently seeking a Senior Furbaby Attendant to join our team and embody our values of Top 1%, Respect [the individual] and Protection. Experience with cats is preferred, for example in a cat boarding facility, animal care/rescue environment (including fostering) or veterinary practice.
We are looking for someone who:
Is passionate about cats, their health and welfare
Is detail focused, and a great multi-tasker
Thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Approaches all tasks with enthusiasm and vigour, from cleaning to cat enrichement and everything in between!
Is a great communicator
Is comfortable engaging with cats and humans alike
Can use their communication & collaboration skills to work effectively in a team or independently as needed
Is a proactive self-starter, and can use their initiative and know-how to get things done
Is highly motivated and reliable with a positive attitude
Standard working hours are between 6.00am and 10.00pm, seven days/week with 5-8 hour shifts. Flexibility with hours and days available to work is required, in particular through peak periods such as school holidays, Christmas and Easter. You will be employed under an Enterprise Agreement with penalty rates paid for weekends and public holidays.
A permanent full-time role is on offer, however casual or part-time hours will be considered for the right candidate.
Senior Furbaby Attendants…
Are responsible for the quality of pet welfare and care for our Furbaby Retreat guests, with particular tasks including:
carrying out feeding and cleaning routines
reporting in detail any significant changes observed in the cats, including health, temperament and stress levels, toileting, eating and behaviour.
enrichment and maintenance of cats, including grooming and health maintenance as required.
taking photos cats during their enrichment sessions for client updates
cleaning suites, furniture, floors (among other things!)
help with medicating cats as required and in a stress-free manner
Candidates with the following attributes will be highly valued:
Completed study in vet nursing, animal care and/or companion animal services.
Experience with medicating cats across a range of ailments and medication types
Experience engaging with highly anxious, timid or aggressive cats
Experience with fear-free philosophy and techniques
Strive for excellence in everything you do
