About the role

The successful applicant (8 days per fortnight) will have the opportunity to be involved in the growth of this already highly regarded animal welfare organisation. This role will involve:

Performing nursing duties including assisting veterinarians with foster care consultations, shelter animal health checks, providing treatment to hospitalised patients, and managing daily procedures

To provide the highest level of veterinary nursing care for the animals

To train, supervise and support the veterinary nursing staff

To assist with administrative duties to ensure the clinic runs efficiently and cost-effectively

To work closely with the Animal Care Team (ACT) to achieve the best possible outcomes for all animals

To assist in the Head Veterinary Nurse in developing and running veterinary related programs including student, volunteer, and community programs

To work with the Head Veterinarian and Head Veterinary Nurse in developing and improving all veterinary nursing processes and procedures

Desired skills and experience

A Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing or equivalent veterinary nursing qualification

At least 1-2 years nursing experience

A passion for companion animal welfare and an understanding of the human-animal bond

A desire to continually promote companion animal welfare through education and support of the community

The ability to work closely with a team as well as autonomously
