Your Next Employer

Backed by a global leader in sustainable agricultural investments, this newly established mixed-farming aggregation near Forbes, NSW, combines the energy of a start-up with the resources of an international powerhouse. With significant investments in irrigation infrastructure and CAPEX projects planned, you'll be stepping into a fast-paced environment focused on operational excellence and sustainable farming practices.

The Role

Working closely with the Business Unit Manager (Farm Manager), you’ll oversee daily activities across multiple, non-contiguous properties, with your primary focus being irrigated cotton production. The aggregation currently covers 14,000ha, with ~8,000ha of dryland (contracted) and ~600ha of irrigated cotton, with an additional 200-300ha of irrigation to be developed. Your role is strategically focused, ensuring smooth operations through careful planning, coordination of contractors and optimising workflows despite inherent logistical complexities. Therefore, spending very little time ‘in the seat’ operating, if any.

A key part to your success will be managing and mentoring your current team of three permanent staff, plus casuals during peak periods, ensuring a positive culture, high productivity, and adherence to compliance and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee and optimise operations across multiple non-contiguous properties, managing complexities in logistics and workflow.
  • Team Management: Lead, develop, and coordinate permanent and seasonal staff, creating a positive, collaborative culture.
  • Budget & Reporting: Collaborate closely with the Business Manager, reviewing budget vs. actuals, CAPEX projects, and procurement.
  • Infrastructure Development: Support strategic upgrades to irrigation systems and manage relationships with contractors for earthworks and cropping.
  • Compliance & Standards: Champion best-practice safety, environmental compliance, and fatigue management standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Leverage ag tech to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and maintain sustainable practices.

What You Bring

This role is ideal for a seasoned cotton operations professional who thrives in complex logistical environments. Your practical experience combined with strong management skills will be key. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Significant experience managing irrigated cotton operations (multi-site experience advantageous).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and effectively manage contractors.
  • Experience coordinating workflows and logistics across multiple properties or complex environments.
  • Experience working to budgets and operational expenditure, with a pragmatic approach to cost control.
  • Hands-on knowledge of ag tech and modern sustainable farming practices (advantageous).
  • A calm, solution-focused mindset - able to identify issues proactively and implement practical improvements.

Candidates looking to step up into a structured managerial role, who have strong irrigated cotton experience, are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Gain

  • Competitive Salary: $120k - $130k base + Super (up to circa $190k package)
  • House: Large 5-bedroom house (ducted air conditioning, swimming pool, utilities included), located just 40km SW of Forbes, NSW.
  • Car: Dual-cab Land Cruiser ute
  • Other: Laptop, phone & iPad
  • Career Growth: Opportunity for professional advancement within a global agricultural investment group.
