Our client provides financial accounting support to one of Australia's most iconic and trusted franchise networks, with operations across Australia and New Zealand. They are committed to compliance, operational excellence, and fostering a supportive and collaborative team culture.
They do this by providing on-site access to a swimming pool, gym and EV charging and weekly team lunches at both the Mooroolbark and Nunawading offices plus more!
They are seeking a skilled permanent part time Payroll Officer to join the finance team at their clients Mooroolbark Office to manage the payroll function across multiple entities.
The required workdays are Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The working hours are 9am to 5pm. This position is for an immediate start, with at least one day available before Wednesday the 21st May for a handover. If this isn't possible, we will work together to achieve a solution.
This role is also a potential pathway to a full-time role supporting other clients.
The Key Responsibilities of the position are:
Payroll Processing
- Process fortnightly payroll for 230 employees in Australia and New Zealand
- Calculate wages, deductions, leave balances, and ensure on-time payments
Compliance & Record-Keeping
- Stay up to date with payroll legislation in Australia and NZ
- Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure confidentiality
Reporting & Reconciliation
- Reconcile superannuation, PAYG, payroll tax, and general ledger
- Generate regular internal and statutory payroll reports
Employee Support & Collaboration
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries professionally and promptly
- Liaise with HR to ensure benefits and changes are correctly applied
System Maintenance & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain and update payroll systems
- Recommend and support improvements to payroll processes
What we are looking for:
- 2-3+ years' experience in a payroll position
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll and Fair Work legislation
- Proficiency with Employment Hero (preferred), Microsoft Business Central, and Excel
- Experience with end-to-end payroll, including EOFY and monthly reconciliations
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and confidentiality
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
