The opportunity:
This position, based in our Sandringham office, is an integral part of the Finance team and requires a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week. Depending on performance, there is potential for this role to transition into a full-time position for the right candidate.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Preparation of Management Reports: Generate weekly and monthly management reports.
- Accounts Receivable and Payable: Manage end-to-end processes for accounts receivable and payable.
- Reconciliations: Perform credit card and monthly phone bill reconciliations.
- Petty Cash and Journal Entries: Reconcile petty cash and process journal entries to the relevant general ledgers.
- Bank Reconciliations: Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Financial Reporting: Provide accurate and up-to-date information to the Finance Manager for cash flow management and budget planning.
- Customer Service Liaison: Collaborate with the company's customer service team to address and resolve queries.
- Inter-Company Invoicing: Issue inter-company invoices in a timely manner.
- Month-End Tasks: Complete month-end procedures accurately, including closing AR/AP ledgers, distributing debtor statements, and reconciling creditor statements.
- Debtor/Credit Query Resolution: Promptly respond to and resolve all debtor and credit queries.
- Journal Preparation: Prepare and process various journals, including rebates, write-offs of small balances, debtor account corrections, and intercompany transactions.
- Asset Register Maintenance: Serve as backup for maintaining the Asset Register, including asset additions, transfers, and disposals.
- Depreciation: Act as backup for the preparation and posting of monthly depreciation entries.
- Year-End Work Papers: Assist in preparing year-end work papers for Fixed Assets.
- Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required by management within the scope of competence.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a similar role.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience with various accounting software; familiarity with Sage 300 is preferred but not mandatory.
- Willingness to assist with various tasks and work collaboratively with the team.
