The Assistant Accountant provides vital support to the accountant team by assisting with day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping, and helping maintain compliance with internal policies and external regulations. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented, organised, and eager to grow their accounting career.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist with accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices and payments

Perform daily bank reconciliations and data entry

Help prepare and maintain financial records, spreadsheets, and reports

Support month-end and year-end closing procedures

Monitor and maintain accurate general ledger entries

Assist in liaising with clients, vendors, and internal departments

Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and relevant regulations

Perform other administrative or accounting duties as required

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or working towards)

Experience in an accounting support role (preferred)

Strong understanding of basic accounting principles

Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or HandiLedger

Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy

Strong organisational and time management skills

Ability to handle confidential information responsibly

Effective communication and teamwork skills
