About the role
The Senior Project Officer works within the Screening and Early Detection team and will work closely with members of Maiam Nayri Wingara collective to develop, implement and optimise the ability for cancer screening partners including VACCHO, to introduce Indigenous Data Sovereignty (IDSov) and Indigenous Data Governance (IDGov). The role will include working with key screening partners, Australian Centre for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer (ACPCC), BreastScreen Victoria (BSV) and Cancer Council Victoria (Cancer Council) to coordinate the training offered by Maiam Nayri Wingara collective members based at the University of Tasmania and Macquarie University, to deliver IDSov and IDGov training, support review of data policy and procedures and establish a co-governance cancer screening working group.
The role includes a well organised Secretariat role to coordinate training and meetings between project staff and screening partners, as well as an opportunity to shadow experts in IDSov and IDGov and become a champion in this space for Victoria.
Essential skills/experiences
To be successful in this role, you will need a demonstrated experience as a Senior Project Officer. A relevant qualification or 5 or more years of demonstrated experience working in health or a related field will be required.
Desirable
Experience within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health.
Experience in, or an understanding of how data can be obtained, analysed and reported.
Policy development and implementation.

About Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health
The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) was established in 1996. VACCHO is the peak Aboriginal health body representing 100% of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) in Victoria. The role of VACCHO is to build the capacity of its Membership and to advocate for issues on their behalf.
Capacity is built amongst Members through strengthening support networks, increasing workforce development opportunities and through leadership on particular health areas. Advocacy is carried out with a range of private, community and government agencies, at state and national levels, on all issues related to Aboriginal health.
