About the Role

As a Timber Frame & Truss Detailer & Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing building plans and customer orders, using MiTek frame and truss design software to provide accurate estimates, and liaising directly with customers to deliver high-quality service and solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Operate MiTek 20/20 Frame & Truss Design Software.

Manage and track quotes using a Quote Register.

Review building plans, bills of quantities, and project documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.

Liaise with customers regarding their orders and estimates.

Conduct or assist with site measures as required.

Manage quoting activities and documentation with attention to accuracy and compliance.

Prepare timely and precise quotes and estimates.

Collaborate with MiTek representatives to maintain and update software settings.

Ensure pricing aligns with company procedures and margin expectations.

Monitor the transition from plan to production to ensure structurally sound outcomes.

Work closely with other Frame & Truss Detailers to ensure precision and consistency.

Track and report competitor pricing monthly to the Frame & Truss Manager.

Build strong working relationships with the external sales team to grow sales opportunities.

Deliver exceptional customer service through effective communication and support.

Liaise with suppliers, internal staff, and other store locations to meet customer needs.

Support other estimating-related duties as assigned by the Frame & Truss Manager.

Key Requirements

Minimum 5 years’ experience estimating and detailing timber frames and trusses for residential or commercial projects.

Proficiency with MiTek 20/20 or similar frame and truss software.

Solid knowledge of timber design tools such as Autobeam, Hyne Design, etc.

Understanding of AS1684 - Residential Timber Framed Construction.

Strong attention to detail and excellent numerical skills.

Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Professional phone manner and a strong customer-focused approach.

Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.

A proactive and responsive attitude to customer needs.

Certificate III in Timber Systems Design or similar qualification/experience (highly desirable).

Performance Targets (KPIs)

Maintain a win/loss quote ratio of 60% or higher.

Keep rework rate below 15%.
