The Role

The Senior Estimator is responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for large-scale projects, analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine overall project costs. They often lead a team of junior estimators and coordinate with project managers, clients, and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

• Cost Estimation & Tendering: Prepare accurate cost estimates, analyze supplier pricing, and customize estimates based on project scope and timelines.
• Client Interaction & Communication: Engage with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, provide technical input, and negotiate for competitive bids.
• Bid Preparation & Submission: Manage bid preparation, ensure alignment with requirements and deadlines.
• Project Transition Support: Ensure smooth project handover from estimating to project management teams.
• Proposal Development: Support competitive proposals for large projects.
• Documentation & Records: Maintain accurate records of estimates, communications, and subcontractor details.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Experience with major clients like Transgrid or AusNet.
• Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
• Ability to interpret Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and General Arrangement (GA) layouts.
• Strong organizational, time management, negotiation, and communication skills.
