About the role

The Director, Infrastructure & Procurement leads the World Heritage-listed Sydney Opera House’s building, capital and maintenance program, as well as organisational procurement activities, to support its artistic, heritage, commercial and sustainability objectives.

What you'll do

As a member of the Executive Team, engage in leadership and strategic decision-making, and drive outcomes in and provide advice, insights and information about the Opera House’s infrastructure and procurement requirements and activities.

Drive a high performance, values-aligned culture across the infrastructure and procurement teams, achieving a high-level of cross-organisational collaboration, advice, service and outcomes.

Lead the development, implementation and review of building, asset, maintenance and collections management strategies, plans, priority projects, systems and policies, ensuring alignment with the Opera House Strategy, Strategic Building Plan and Conservation Management Plan, current and future asset management frameworks, NSW Government directives and industry best practice. This includes working with the Executive Team and Board to prioritise activities and projects and secure funding.

Drive procurement, project, contract and risk management for infrastructure projects (building, technology and theatre systems) and maintenance to complete work in accordance with Opera House requirements (including minimising operational disruption), NSW building codes, regulations, specifications and standards, and the Opera House’s obligations as a World, National and State Heritage-listed building. This includes:

Engaging and managing contractors and consultants.

Tracking, monitoring and reporting on project and program expenditure, timeframes and benefits.

Oversee the Opera House’s procurement framework and activities, including:

Develop and implement procurement policies, plans and systems, consistent with the NSW Procurement Policy Framework, to maximise the Opera House’s procurement effectiveness and manage compliance and risk.

Provide expert procurement advice and guidance, including in relation to sustainable procurement initiatives, and deliver training to increase capability across the organisation.

Work with legal and other teams to raise awareness of the importance of robust procurement processes and the highest standard of delivery across the organisation

Provide procurement activities for major, sensitive, high-value or strategic projects, including capital, maintenance and technology as well as other projects.
