About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to take on the role of Sous Chef at The Hahndorf Old Mill Hotel, a historic pub located in the picturesque town of Hahndorf, South Australia. As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for supporting the Head Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, creative cuisine. This is a full-time position, offering the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and contribute to the ongoing success of the business.
What you'll be doing
Assisting the Head Chef in menu planning, recipe development and food preparation
Overseeing the day-to-day running of the kitchen, including scheduling, delegating tasks and monitoring staff performance
Ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are upheld at all times
Collaborating with the kitchen team to continuously improve kitchen efficiency and service delivery
Mentoring and training junior kitchen staff to develop their skills and expertise
Maintaining accurate stock control and ordering supplies as needed
What we're looking for
Minimum 1-2 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role
Formal training
Excellent knowledge of food preparation, presentation and food safety regulations
Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage a team
Creativity and a passion for developing innovative, flavoursome dishes
A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
