About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Accountant to join our dynamic team and support our financial operations. This full-time role involves managing the company’s financial reporting, inventory cost control, budgeting and forecasting, tax compliance, cash flow, payroll, and internal financial processes. The successful candidate will work closely with the operations and management team to support business growth and compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and analyse monthly financial reports and statements
Complete End of Day and End of Month procedures.
Prepare and lodge the Business Activity Statements (BAS) in compliance with ATO requirements for Goods and Services Tax (GST) reporting.
Manage and ensure compliance with corporate taxation obligations, including payroll tax, and fringe benefits tax.
Develop, implement, and manage the annual budget for the company, forecasting financial performance based on historical data and industry trends.
Manage foreign currency transactions, including imports and exports accounting
Work with Xero accounting and Unleashed inventory management software
Implement and maintain systems for inventory management and cost accounting to track the costs of goods sold (COGS) and ensure accurate reporting of margins and profitability.
Monitor inventory levels and perform cost analysis related to the procurement of products, ensuring efficient inventory control and cost reduction strategies.
Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for day-to-day operations and future investments.
Oversee payroll processing for all employees, ensuring compliance with Australian tax and superannuation laws.
Manage the calculation and timely payment of employee entitlements such as superannuation, leave accruals, and other benefits.
Provide financial input on the company’s expansion plans, including assessing the financial viability of new projects and capital investments.
Essential Skills and Experience Required:
Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or an equivalent discipline.
Minimum 3 years’ relevant work experience in a similar accounting role
Demonstrated knowledge of Australian accounting system
Proficiency in Xero accounting and Unleashed inventory management software
Strong communication and analytical skills
Strong technical accounting knowledge and advanced Excel skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced SME environment
Desirable:
CPA/CA qualification (or in progress)
Experience in inventory cost accounting
Strong background in management and financial accounting
Experience developing forecasts, budgets and financial plans
