The Retail Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of one of our retail locations. This includes leading a team of sales staff, cashiers, and other store personnel to ensure the store operates efficiently and meets financial targets. The manager will also ensure staffing, inventory, customer service, and compliance standards are met consistently throughout the season.
You will also be part of the executive leadership team responsible for supporting the recruitment, selection, and hiring of new employees for the seasonal trading period. Additionally, you will play a key leadership role in coordinating and overseeing stocktake operations across all stores.
Key Responsibilities
Team & Operations Management
Lead, support, and supervise a team of floor staff, cashiers, and seasonal employees
Ensure staff are trained, motivated, and aligned with store expectations
Maintain rosters using the IWS payroll system, ensuring:
Accurate and current shift scheduling
All team members clock in/out using the IWS fingerprint scanner
Staff work within their assigned rosters
Actual hours worked are reviewed and confirmed; exceptions are managed appropriately
Inventory Control & Stocktake Leadership
Ensure adequate stock levels are maintained—especially during peak trading times
Oversee accurate receiving and recording of deliveries in the POS system
Confirm that orders are processed correctly and efficiently
Lead stocktakes operations across all store locations, ensuring accuracy, team coordination, and minimal disruption to trade
Ensure back-of-house operations (e.g., delivery timing, inventory accuracy) are optimised to prevent stockouts or excess
Sales & Customer Engagement
Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service and product knowledge
Assist in driving sales, analysing performance, and achieving sales targets
Coordinate promotional activities and merchandising displays
Address and resolve customer issues or complaints promptly
Store Performance & Compliance
Manage budgets, financial reporting, and day-to-day cash handling
Monitor staff performance, provide coaching, and take disciplinary action when required
Ensure adherence to Workplace Health & Safety regulations and store-level policies
Maintain a clean, organised, and visually appealing sales floor at all times
Retail Supervisor Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating floor operations and supervising daily retail activities
Training new hires and supporting ongoing team development
Monitoring employee activity and sales performance
Ensuring timely and accurate restocking, shipping/receiving, and merchandising
Supporting store leadership in meetings and implementing directives from senior management
Skills & Experience Required
A qualification in management, retail operations, or marketing is highly desirable
Minimum 1 year of experience in a retail management or supervisory role
Strong team leadership and organisational skills
Proficient in stock control, rostering, budgeting, and financial reporting
Knowledge of POS and payroll systems (experience with IWS and Erply highly regarded)
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume retail environment
Fluency in spoken and written English is essential for this role
