St John of God Geelong Hospital is the largest private hospital in regional Victoria providing a comprehensive range of acute services to the rapidly growing coastal city. The modern hospital has a busy accident and emergency department, a comprehensive surgical program supported by a critical/intensive care unit, rapidly growing cardiology, medical, rehabilitation, and cancer services. Your role at St John of God Geelong Hospital
The Human Resource Advisor will provide customer focused human resource services to internal and external customers including advice and support in relation to HR practices and processes, policies, current industrial relations legislation, enterprise agreements and workforce strategies.
The Position
- Provide generalist advice to Managers and Caregivers on Human Resource matters.
- Support and assist Managers by developing plans and strategies to deliver desired outcomes in developing culture, caregiver capability and an engaged and effective workforce.
- Collaborate with, coach and advice Managers on workforce issues and assist in the identification of improvement strategies.
- Provide advice and assistance to Managers on caregiver performance management and improvement strategies.
- Assist with HR and business analytics, working with Managers to develop, implement and support strategies that lead to improved performance and operational target achievements.
- Assist Managers in the oversight of caregiver non-work related 'Fitness for Work' activities and Workers Compensation Cases, including liaison with Group and Injury Management Teams on appropriate management.
- Assist and support Managers with interactions with Union Representatives on employee related matters in conjunction with the Group IR Advisory Service.
- Support and work with the Group IR Advisory Service in relation to various case management (including formal performance management, performance improvement plans, grievances, workplace investigations and non-work related fitness for work matters).
- Coordinate hospital visitations and education sessions from Union representatives, caregiver Salary Packaging providers, AHPRA and various other external service providers as required.
- Participate in Disability Recruitment strategies for the Hospital in line with Hospital Group objectives.
- Assist with Workforce HR projects and initiatives including research, workforce planning activities, and any special projects as identified by the Senior HR Business Partner and/or Director of Corporate Services that are relevant to Human Resources and workforce management activities.
- Participate in Aboriginal Engagement and Recruitment strategies for the Hospital in line with KPI requirements.
You will have a tertiary level qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline and will demonstrate a sound generalist HR knowledge with experience across a variety of HR functional domain areas. Experience in the healthcare sector is desirable, however, not essential.
To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate experience in the delivery of Human Resource Services in a complex work environment and possess advance organisational and analytical skills. You will be enthusiastic and committed in your approach, with a track record of building strong trust-based relationships with stakeholders.

- Salary: $99,730 to $110,852 per annum (pro rata), plus 11.5% superannuation
- Permanent part time role working 30.4 hours per week
