The Position
We are seeking a highly experienced Digital Manager to join our small team at the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, Australia’s lead management agency for the Reef. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable and passionate about social and digital media, and excited to be at the forefront of transforming marketing and communications. This position is key to ensuring a consistent and professional look and feel to the Reef Authority’s presence on digital and social media that reinforces our brand.
The role draws on marketing principles and strong marketing skills to administer our online channels and work within a team to develop, deliver and evaluate ongoing digital and marketing strategies. The manager produces and curates on-brand digital content for our external website, e-marketing and social media channels, and oversees in-house and external content producers. As well as tracks, reports and recommends innovative content strategies to communicate and engage online about the Great Barrier Reef’s health and management.
Key Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the Assistant Director Digital and Marketing, coordinate the Authority’s digital communication activities (within budget, deadlines and risk-based), contributing to the delivery and evaluation of the Communication Strategy 2024-27.
- Manage the ongoing enhancement and maintenance of the Reef Authority’s website using a content management system, including continuous search engine optimisation, user experience, and ensuring website issues are resolved within a reasonable timeframe.
- Write, edit, produce, and curate content (including text, articles, reels, video, audio, photography, infographics, and e-newsletters) with in-house content producers or external suppliers that is sophisticated, original, relevant to the target audience, and meets production objectives.
- Develop, schedule, post and evaluate online content and positively engage with our online communities.
- Contribute to the leadership across the Reef Authority, manage in-house content producers and assist with workflow and other communication team activities.
- Deliver sophisticated reporting and analysis of key digital metrics and channels and identify trends to help inform innovative content strategies.

- You’re an active social media and website user who keeps up-to-date with latest trends.
- You thrive under pressure and don’t get flustered when faced with competing priorities.
- You are good with detail, reports and technical systems.
