We are looking for a responsible and experienced livestock supervisor to manage our sheep at our farm in Williams WA. At Wagyu Lamb Pty Ltd, our business is built around offering sustainable, highly marbled lamb meat to the hospitality industry and our farm is where it all begins.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Livestock
• Clean feed troughs & water troughs daily and inspect livestock
• Prepare and mix feed for lambs daily including driving tractor to delivery feed to livestock
• Supervise itinerant workers in basic feedlot operations ensuring livestock welfare is predominant
• Clean livestock pens regularly and manage manure storage and waste disposal areas
• Inspect, drench, vaccinate lambs upon arrival at farm.
• Implement biosecurity protocols for lambs arrival
• Weigh & tag lambs upon entry to feedlot and sort into pens
• Safely load livestock onto trucks weekly
• Monitor general health and well-being of lambs in the feedlot, consult COO and implement measures to
manage disease risk and contamination in a timely manner.
• Safely treat any sick or injured livestock including crutching as required
Machinery
• Daily operation of tractors, feed mixers and telehandler to load feed mixer wagon
• Ensure all repair and maintenance at the feedlot is completed in a timely manner
• Assist with general farm maintenance ensuring the property is kept in a clean and tidy condition at all times.
• Cleaning and routine maintenance of tractors, mixing wagons, vehicles and all mechanical equipment
Livestock Data
• Operate electronic livestock management system (TruTest Datamars) to capture, store and manage data
related to animal health, genetics and performance.
• Use electronic identification tags, digital scales and software platforms to track individual animal records and
upload to the cloud-based software
• Input data relevant to individual lambs to electronic tag system for review by the COO and CEO.
General
• Ensure that all health and safety standards are adhered to and that the working environment is clean and tidy
• Ensure contractor compliance with feedlot safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure security of all assets including land, livestock produce and inventories
Skills:
• Experience handling and managing sheep
• Knowledge of water, water troughs and repairs
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships within and between business operations
• Organised and able to meet deadlines
• Fluency in English language
• Current drivers license essential
