About Ormond College

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic Leading Tutor (Science) to join our Learning team. This part-time role (0.6 FTE) plays a key part in delivering high-quality tutorials, mentoring students, and enhancing the academic experience through innovative, student-centred programming. The successful candidate will work closely with the Dean of Learning and other tutors to support learning across a range of science disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver weekly tutorials and up to six hours of individual consultations during semester

• Design a week-long intensive course to extend students beyond their university studies

• Be on-site Tuesday and Thursday evenings to support the academic program and community

• Lead and participate in tutor recruitment, mentoring, and development activities

• Assist in planning academic programs and running student-focused events and workshops

• Contribute to a vibrant College culture by attending key events and formal community occasions

About You

You are an experienced tertiary educator with a passion for student learning. You’ll bring:

• Strong teaching experience at the university level

• Ability to teach multiple subjects across areas such as physics, maths, chemistry, computer science, or engineering

• Experience mentoring others and working collaboratively in a team

• Commitment to fostering inclusive, values-driven academic communities

Qualifications

• A degree in science or related field (postgraduate qualifications preferred)

• A PhD or current doctoral study, or comparable research experience.
