The Role

As the Feed Mill Leading Hand, you will oversee daily mill operations, ensure feed preparation meets high standards, and maintain essential machinery across the plant. This is a vital role in ensuring livestock receive quality nutrition while keeping equipment running smoothly and safely. Your duties will include:

• Overseeing the milling of grain, ensuring all mill machinery is routinely serviced and maintained.
• Preparing/mixing feed rations and daily bunk calling.
• Operating and maintaining farm machinery, including feed trucks, loaders, and bobcats.
• Keeping inventory of essential spare parts and performing stocktakes of commodities
• Loading and unloading trucks (approximately 3–5 per week)
• Performing general maintenance, including welding and water infrastructure repairs

Skills and Experience

• Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and fix common machinery issues
• Experience operating farm equipment such as feed trucks, loaders, bobcats, and telehandlers
• Clear communication with a willingness to train junior staff
• Physical fitness and the ability to work in a hands-on environment
• A valid driver’s licence and full Australian working rights

The Company

Our client operates a large-scale cattle and cropping enterprise on 7,500 acres between Kingaroy and Dalby, consisting of a 2,500 SCU feedlot, 300ha of cropping, and high-density rotational grazing. With a commitment to efficient and sustainable agricultural practices, they provide custom feeding services and Wagyu backgrounding/finishing.
