POSITION OBJECTIVE

Works Co-ordinator will be responsible for effective, timely and cost-effective management and delivery of Council’s works program throughout the Shire through ongoing coordination projects to ensure that construction and maintenance work is performed to the high standard required by Council and our clients.

In conjunction with Team Leaders, the Works co-ordinator role will coordinate staff and other resources to provide optimum delivery of services, while fostering and supporting a positive culture of teamwork, safety and continuous improvement.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

· Actively develop, maintain and administrative control the Housing and Facilities construction and maintenance programs and projects to ensure they are delivered to meet quality standards.

· Provide guidance and advice to managers and staff, ensuring they fully understand specific tasks, programs and projects to enable effective and compliant execution, and control of expenditure for individual maintenance and construction works.

Administratively manage and conduct

· Procurement activities including ordering of goods and equipment

· Requests for quotes (including vendor panel/local buy).

· Manage data entry into Simpro.

· Schedule works including tradesman and staff works and activities.

· Tenders.

· Undertake Site inspections.

· Assist contractors in the undertaking of works including construction and maintenance.

· Provide leadership to the workgroup in successfully implementing relevant aspects of the MSC Safety Management System.

· Ensure that all works executed by assigned staff or contractors are carried out safely, comply with relevant standards and specifications and meets the needs of Council and its customers with minimal inconvenience or disruption.

EXPERIENCE

· Experience in administration within the building industry including scheduling and coordination of works and associated activities.

· Experience in projects, maintenance or related field

· Demonstrated experience in a supervisory role with strong leadership and team building skills and the ability to motivate and influence staff to achieve positive outcomes.

· Proven written and verbal communication, literacy, numeracy and computer skills

· Proven ability to work under minimal supervision to manage and meet timeframes and deadlines.
