About the team

Located within the Strategy, People and Performance Department, the Work Health and Safety Branch plays an essential role in leading safety practices across the organisation, ensuring our people operate in a safe and healthy manner. Working within the WHS Strategy business unit, we are responsible for delivering proactive health and safety programs across the City.

About the Role

The Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator position is responsible for providing injury management support, rehabilitation and return to work services to the City's workers. This includes liaising with both internal stakeholders and external providers in delivering on the City's requirements for injury management.

This role is part of the Health and Injury Management team and plays a critical role in supporting injured workers via the Immediate Injury Management program which is available for City workers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. As part of the role you will travel regularly within the Gold Coast region to support employees across over 70 City locations as well as participate in a rotating afterhours on-call roster.
The role is also responsible for supporting initiatives across the WHS Strategy team.

We're looking for people who have:

• Have relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in injury management or, having worked in a rehabilitation and return to work role or personal injury for at least 2 years.
• An in-depth understanding and knowledge of contemporary rehabilitation issues and practices, along with experience in managing complex physical and psychological cases. Previous experience working within a self-insured employer framework is highly regarded.
• Demonstrated high-level communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills (with all stakeholders), particularly in the provision of consulting advice and guidance to stakeholder of all levels ofa complex organisation, including taking a multidisciplinary approach with broader colleagues to achieve best outcomes.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to adapt your style and language depending on the audience. Previous experience supporting a mixed collar workforce will be highly regarded.
• Demonstrated analytical and creative problem-solving skills in the provision of solution-based strategic and operational injury management and disability support in a large, complex organisation.
• Have strong administrative skills, attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously in a flexible work environment.
