Support Worker – Individual Support ( Sale Location)
Position Type: Casual
Location: Sale, Victoria
Minimum Commitment: 15 hours per week
Shift Times:
Morning Shift: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (Monday to Sunday)
Evening Shift: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (Monday to Sunday)
Position Overview:
We are seeking compassionate and reliable Support Workers to join our care team for our clients, a participant living with cerebral palsy in Sale. He is at high risk of falling without supervision and requires consistent support across morning and evening shifts. Support Workers must be committed to a minimum of 15 hours per week and deliver person-centred care in line with NDIS standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Support & Daily Supervision
Assist with mobility, personal care, and transfers.
Provide close supervision to reduce risk of falls or injury.
Maintain a calm, supportive, and engaging environment.
Emergency Protocol (Falls/Health Incidents)
If participant is found on the floor or has fallen:
Call 000 immediately.
Stay with client and apply DRSABCD first aid principles:
D – Danger: Ensure the area is safe.
R – Response: Check for responsiveness.
S – Send for help: Call emergency services.
A – Airway: Ensure airway is clear.
B – Breathing: Check for breathing and chest movement.
C – CPR: If not breathing, commence CPR.
D – Defibrillator: Use if trained and available.
Notify Head Office immediately after emergency services are contacted.
Medication Administration
Administer only medications listed on the participant’s Medication Drug Chart.
Double check medication before giving.
Sign the Medication Administration Record (MAR) after each administration.
Do not administer medication not listed on the chart.
Reporting & Documentation
Record all shift activities and behaviours in progress notes.
Log and report any behaviours of concern, injuries, or changes in health.
Report all equipment failures or incidents to Head Office immediately.
Notify Head Office in case of any incidents or concerns.
Professional Conduct & Communication
Maintain confidentiality and respect at all times.
Communicate effectively with the care team and participant's support network.
Participate in ongoing training for first aid, CPR, manual handling, and medication competency.
