Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

People Services provide core human resources functions, ensuring Courts Group has productive work systems and modern workplaces. People Services design and implement programs that support work performance and the health, safety, and wellbeing of judicial officers and members and employees.

Key functions include Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Workplace Relations, People Advisory Services and Talent Acquisition, HR Partnering, Leadership, Capability Development and Strategy, Judicial, Member and Executive Services, Payroll, Systems & Reporting. The Executive Director for People Services leads the function and is part of the CSV executive.

About the role:

The Senior Advisor, MCV Psychological Health and Safety is part of the Courts Group's Health, Safety and Capability Branch and will be responsible for partnering with the Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) to deliver an integrated and systems-based approach to preventing and responding to vicarious trauma and other psychosocial hazards. The role will be responsible for proactively developing, delivering and embedding a range of psychological health and safety interventions across the organisation and employee lifecycle, to address psychosocial risks in collaboration with MCV's judicial officers and staff.

The Senior Advisor, MCV Psychological Health and Safety position interacts with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders and is required to utilise strong interpersonal management skills to improve psychological health and safety performance and to support resolution of challenging and complex psychological health and safety issues, considering the unique environment of the court jurisdiction.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver effective wellbeing strategies and initiatives.
  • Implementing evidence-based psychological health and safety practices in alignment with the organisational wellbeing framework and OHS legislation, regulations and compliance codes.
  • Facilitation of workshops and intervention programs to employees and leaders.
  • Supporting the development of policies and guidelines that drive health and safety outcomes.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on psychological wellbeing matters, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertaking risk analysis, evaluations and reporting contributing to the continuous improvement of wellbeing practices across the organisation.

About you:

  • Robust understanding of psychosocial risk regulations and knowledge of contemporary frameworks on psychological health and safety and work design.
  • Ability to approach complex health and safety challenges through an organisational psychology or public health/health promotion lens - drawing on principles and concepts relating to systems, research, program design and evaluation.
  • Adept at approaching challenges with curiosity, consulting with stakeholders, understanding their needs and developing fit-for-purpose programs and policies.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills and ability to translate complex, technical concepts in a way that is easily understood by diverse audiences.
  • Proficient at preparing briefs and written reports
  • Preferred - Masters in Organisational Psychology (eligible for AHPRA registration and endorsement) or comparable tertiary qualifications in psychology OR Masters in Public Health/Health Promotion with 3+ years of professional experience in a similar environment.
