Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

Our people enable the Courts Group to deliver on individual and connected strategic priorities.

People Services provide core human resources functions, ensuring Courts Group has productive work systems and modern workplaces. People Services design and implement programs that support work performance and the health, safety, and wellbeing of judicial officers and members and employees.

Key functions include Health, Safety and Wellbeing, Workplace Relations, People Advisory Services and Talent Acquisition, HR Partnering, Leadership, Capability Development and Strategy, Judicial, Member and Executive Services, Payroll, Systems & Reporting. The Executive Director for People Services leads the function and is part of the CSV executive.

About the role:

The Senior Advisor, MCV Safety and Assurance is part of the Courts Group's Health, Safety and Capability Branch and will be responsible for partnering with Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) managers and supervisors to effectively advise, support and provide assurance on safety as an integral part of their operational practices. As a subject matter expert, you will work closely with MCV, a jurisdiction within Court Services Victoria, and you will play an important part in implementing occupational health and safety procedures, strategies and initiatives to improve OHS performance and ensure compliance with OHS legislation, regulations, compliance codes and Australian standards.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders to deliver effective occupational health and safety incident management, strategies and initiatives.
  • Implementing evidence-based occupational health and safety practices in alignment with occupational health and safety legal and organisational frameworks.
  • Convening occupational health and safety consultation forums for Health and Safety Representatives and employees.
  • Supporting the development of policies and guidelines that drive health and safety outcomes.
  • Providing expert advice and guidance on occupational health and safety matters, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Undertaking risk assessments, investigations and reporting.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of occupational health and safety practices across the organisation.

About you:

  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking risk assessments, investigations and incident management responses, from early response through to delivery of strategic interventions to mitigate safety risk in operations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and awareness of OHS legislation and associated regulatory standards in providing advice and assurance.
  • Adept at consulting with stakeholders, understanding their needs and developing fit-for-purpose safety programs and policies.
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills enabling delivery of effective solutions.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills and ability to translate complex, technical concepts in a way that is easily understood by diverse audiences.
  • Proficient at preparing briefs and written reports.
  • Preferred - A relevant tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety.
