Location & Travel

This position can be based out of Bathurst, Orange, or Dubbo, with the head office based in Bathurst. Travel across regional sites is a key part of the role as you support hands-on auditing, migration, and quality assurance activities

The Opportunity

This is your chance to play a central role that will future-proof operations across 36 sites. As Systems Engineer, you’ll drive the technical delivery of a high-impact server migration and remediation program, decommissioning outdated systems and enabling a shift to a modern, centralised IT environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Lead the technical execution of a region-wide server migration and decommissioning program
• Audit and document approximately 155 legacy physical and virtual servers across 30+ locations
• Define and build target-state architecture within a managed Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) data centre
• Deliver secure, efficient, and modern server environments to replace out-of-support systems
• Collaborate closely with a Project Manager and a Junior Sys Admin to deliver program milestones
• Troubleshoot, test, and validate critical systems through each migration phase
• Support the establishment of centralised clusters for core infrastructure services
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation, configuration templates, and operating procedures

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering or Infrastructure Support roles
• Strong hands-on expertise with Windows Server technologies (2008–2022)
• Experience with virtualisation platforms (Hyper-V, VMware)
• Working knowledge of IaaS/cloud platforms such as Azure
• Familiarity with network/server discovery tools and migration utilities
• Proven ability to plan and execute infrastructure upgrade and remediation projects
• Strong documentation skills, including the creation of technical procedures and work breakdown structures
• Valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for travel across regional locations (essential)

Desirable Qualifications

• Microsoft Certifications (MCSA, MCSE)
• Degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
• Experience leading large-scale migration or infrastructure programs across multi-site environments
• Background in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, or IT project delivery
