Bulmer Farms has an exciting new opportunity for an Operations Manager to join the team!

We are a leading grower of premium quality salad leaf and brassica vegetables in the Lindenow Valley, East Gippsland, approximately 3 hours south-east of Melbourne.

A locally owned Australian family business farming over 2,000 acres, Bulmer Farms employs 120+ people to grow, harvest, pack and distribute large scale volumes of fresh produce for domestic and international markets.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager who will be responsible for the coordination of all Field team members operating machinery and performing harvest roles.

In consultation with other Department Managers, the Operations Manager planning, organising and prioritising tasks will be critical to achieve best team and business results.

Our ideal candidate is a highly motivated, outcomes focussed individual who enjoys working closely with senior management and team members to develop and implement strategies that improve productivity, reduce / control costs, and increase profitability.

Responsibilities:

• Understand seasonal business objectives and communicate regularly with relevant General Managers to ensure the Field Operations team is on track to achieve required outcomes
• Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement
• Collaborate with Farm Managers and Agronomists to collate information and create work plans with appropriate time frames for Field teams
• With thorough planning and collaborative leadership, coordinate the Field Operations Team on a daily basis
• Optimum management of individuals and teams around challenging weather conditions, prioritising tasks where time is limited
• Develop and improve processes for information flow
• Schedule and plan meetings to aid and achieve business objectives and outcomes
• Work with team members to maximise learning, training and development opportunities and continuously improve workforce retention and succession planning
• Manage and develop employees by engaging regularly to provide feedback, coaching and mentoring

Skills

• Collaborative leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders and team members at all levels
• Proven experience as an Operations Manager or similar role, managing large teams
• Ability to take initiative and work unsupervised
• Proficient time management skills with strong attention to detail

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Agriculture, Business or a related field would be highly desirable

Salary range for this role is $100-120k + super – negotiable based on skills and experience.
