The Bunbury Farmers Market is Australia's leading independent Fresh Food Retailer. We are based in the Southwest of Western Australia in one of the most liveable areas in Australia. We source our fresh produce from over 150 local growers, and we are passionate about our ‘Market Made’ range of fresh meal and dessert choices made on the premises. Coupled with our high quality Gourmet Butcher / Meat and Seafood products, we have a unique dairy offering of local and international cheeses & anti-pasto that compliment our Deli, Sushi and Café lines.
Together with our partners Hancock Prospecting, we are poised for rapid growth in the coming years that includes our new store in Vasse (that opened in December 2024) followed by a planned Perth store in 2027. The Role
A key element of this position is maintaining our company's high standards through the effective implementation of robust recruitment systems that engage and retain quality team members, onboard effectively and develop opportunities for traineeships and apprenticeships within the business.
Duties will include:
End-to-end recruitment:
- The development of all advertisements ready for placement
- The determination of which avenue for placement of advertisements will be most effective
(e.g. online recruitment sites; social media sites; website)
- Short listing of suitable applicants
- Phone interviews of short listed applicants
- First Interviews of short listed applicants
- Reference checking after successful first interview (development of standard questions)
- Arrangement for CEO (and other managers as applicable) to conduct second interview
- Approval to Hire documentation
- VEVO Visa eligibility / suitability of employment of visa holders
- Contract Development
- Job Description management: Ensure all existing Job Descriptions are up to date; Ensure
all future Job Description development is in line with branding and standards
- Onboarding: Uniform allocation pre-start date; General Induction completion
(Connecteam); Food Safety Induction (all team members).
Liaising with the company’s foreign recruitment agency & candidates
- Liaise with the Store Manager’s on a monthly basis to establish forecast requests for
each store using agency staff. Provide these request summaries to the CEO on a
monthly basis for approval to commence video interviews with candidates.
- Liaise with our foreign recruitment agency on all employment requirements that are
subject to visa conditions.
- Liaise with the Office Manager on a monthly basis to establish housing requirements for agency employees.
- Where possible, be the main point of contact for the agency staff upon their arrival.
- Liaise regularly with agency staff, to ensure they are adjusting to living in Australia well.
- Develop a ‘buddy system’ for newly arrived agency staff, to meet with existing staff from
their country employed by Bunbury Farmers Market for cultural integration.
Create inroads with Traineeship / Apprenticeship Centres
- Consider opportunities for traineeships and apprenticeships across the company
- Liaise with relevant stakeholders to engage trainees and apprentices
- Ensure current trainees and apprentices receive valuable on-the-job training and support
from stakeholders to progress and sign off their training qualifications
Liaise with the Payroll Department: Upcoming Reviews / Milestones
- Receive a report generated by our payroll system Tanda monthly, to identify up coming
staff probationary reviews
- Ensure both the manager and employee receive our probationary review electronically
ahead of the due date
- Provide to the Systems & Culture Manager any requests from staff to meet with the CEO
Provide a monthly overview report to the Systems & Culture Manager
- Reporting will capture onboarding/offboarding status for all new team members;
Status updates on the Traineeship / Apprenticeship opportunities that have been
developed
- Any issues, trends, concerns that have been identified in the month/relevant quarter.
Qualifications & Accountability:
