About the role
Melbourne Polytechnic is seeking a Casual Arboriculture Teacher to join our dynamic team. As a Casual Arboriculture Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality hands-on training to students in our horticulture and landscaping programs. This is a casual position based at our Fairfield campus, offering the flexibility to work around your schedule.
What you'll be doing
Develop and deliver engaging theoretical and practical lessons in arboriculture, covering topics such as tree identification, pruning techniques, and safety procedures
Assess students' progress and provide feedback to help them develop their skills and knowledge
Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment, adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations
Collaborate with the broader teaching team to continuously improve the curriculum and teaching methods
Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to stay up-to-date with industry trends and teaching best practices
What we're looking for
Formal qualifications in horticulture, arboriculture or a related field, with a minimum of 3 years' practical experience in the industry
Demonstrated experience in delivering high-quality training and assessment, preferably in a vocational education or adult learning environment
Strong knowledge of arboriculture practices, including tree identification, pruning techniques, and safety procedures
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds
A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to stay informed of industry changes and best practices
A valid driver's licence and the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required
