We are currently working with a QLD Govt Department based on the beautiful Sunshine Coast, to source a suitable contractor to work in an AO3 Project Officer (Finance) role. This is a 12-month contract with the strong likelihood for a further two x 12-month extensions. In this position you will work alongside Project Managers utilising a range of software programs such as SAP, 3PCM and SharePoint to manage the financial components of around 100 infrastructure projects. You will be working in a team of multiple AO3 Finance Officers managing approximately 500 projects in total – all at various stages in the project lifecycle.
Your role is to ensure compliance with appropriate Legislation, organisational policies and procedures which are critical to administer, maintain and ensure the successful and timely delivery of a range of support activities associated with preparing financial documentation, accurate tracking, and to indicate the overall financial position and provide early warnings of deviations. This is not an accounting role, but general financial administration therefore experience in Accounts Payable is highly desirable.
A typical day in this role includes, but is not limited to, actioning the following tasks
Undertake governance checks to prepare and submit financial approvals
Accurately maintain relevant tracking registers in excel and SharePoint
Update relevant project and contract details in Unifier including creating contracts, entering estimates, tender details, financial approvals, awarding contracts, completing contracts and finalising projects
Calculate and submit initial and final QLeave payments
Process payments including carrying out governance checks, seeking approvals, goods receipting and lodgement via various portals
Create and amend purchase requisitions
Prepare general journals
Recordkeeping using DMS ensuring accurate and complete records
Actioning various reports such as the Project Finalisation Workbook, Expenditure Commitments and Late Payments
Processing project finalisation steps
Creating contracts and processing claims from providers
Assist in the administration of Grants
Distribute incoming mail
Perform End of Month duties including reviewing justifications, reporting and accrual journal preparation and assisting with forecasting.
General Ledger reconciliation for projects
Participate in team meetings.
Ideally, we are looking for someone who has worked in a large organisation in a finance or accounts payable position. Prior QLD govt experience would be highly regarded. Exposure to software programs and Sharepoint will also be valuable to this role. Based in Buderim, you will work a 38hr working week, the hourly rate range is $49.40 - $54.81 per hour plus super depending on the skills you bring to this role. You must be based on the Sunshine Coast or relocating, there will be some flexibility to WFH but you will also need to attend the Buderim offices.
