Are you a seasoned hospitality professional with a passion for coffee, people, and business growth? We are seeking an experienced and driven General Manager to lead our high-volume café. Old Maids is a well loved & well established venue in the northern rivers. We are looking for a General Manager / Operational Manager to help run the show. This is a dynamic role for someone with strong business acumen, deep coffee knowledge, and the ambition to take an already thriving venue to the next level.
About the Role:
As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the café – from day-to-day operations and team leadership to financial management and strategic growth. You’ll have the opportunity to make a significant impact by refining systems, enhancing the customer experience, and expanding the business in all facets – including sales, service, culture, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee all daily operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service during peak times
• Lead, train, and inspire a large team to deliver exceptional hospitality
• Maintain high standards of coffee quality and consistency
• Drive financial performance through budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
• Identify growth opportunities and implement strategies to boost revenue and profitability
• Develop strong supplier, customer, and community relationships
• Innovate and execute marketing, promotional & community initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
• Someone with hefty experience as a café or hospitality general manager, preferably in a high-volume environment (5+ years) or someone who has owned / operated a similar venue
• Strong leadership and people management skills - looking for someone who shares our values in people & culture above anything else
• Extensive knowledge of specialty coffee, including workflow, quality control, and training
• Solid understanding of business operations: P&L management, rostering, inventory, and compliance
• A proactive, solution-focused mindset with a track record of growing businesses
• Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
