Benalla Golf Club is seeking an Assistant Manager to manage its Bar and Gaming operations.
Benalla is a major rural city in Victoria’s North-East, 200km from Melbourne on the Hume freeway. It is central to many tourist attractions including wine and food trails, winter and summer sports activities, and general touring. Major population centres of Albury, Wodonga, Shepparton, and Wangaratta are all within easy driving distance.
Benalla has excellent educational and community facilities and associated activities including sports, arts, cultural, service, and mutual interest organisations.
The Benalla Golf Club has a rich history dating back to 1903 and plays a significant role in the social and economic well-being of the local community.
The club has an excellent 18-hole greens golf course, a driving range, 200-seat bistro, bar, and gaming facilities. It has a Full Club Licence. Our golf shop is leased to a very experienced operator.
The Club is in a strong financial position with revenue exceeding $3.2m per annum. The Board is determined to improve and grow our service offerings to members, guests and visitors.
The Role
The Assistant Manager (Bar and Gaming Operations) is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Bar and Gaming functions of the club, ensuring that all facilities within the Bar and Gaming area of the club are secure, maintained at the highest level and comply with relevant Gaming and Liquor legislation and Regulations. It involves rostering, supervision, and the development of the Bar and Gaming staff. You will work closely with the General Manager to ensure that the Bar and Gaming areas are suitably resourced for organised events and activities.
You are expected to be available to be rostered for regular weekend work. This is likely to be every second weekend.
Primary responsibilities of this role include:
Financial Management of the Bar and Gaming operations including budgeting, financial control and analysis, and reporting as required by the General Manager.
Assist with ordering of stock, stock management and reporting.
Management of OH&S and general health and safety of staff, members, guests and visitors within the Bar and Gaming areas.
HR management including rostering and assisting the General Manager with recruitment, performance reviews, and training and development of Bar and Gaming staff.
Management of all aspects of bar and electronic gaming facilities including compliance with all statutory requirements and regulations.
Act in the role of General Manager, as required, when the GM is on leave or extended absence.
Requirements:
Be able to meet all Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission (VGCCC ) and Victorian Liquor Commission requirements including Police, ASIC and credit checks.
Hold, or obtain, Victorian Gaming Licence, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA), Responsible Service of Gaming (RSG), and Anti-Money Laundering certificates as required.
Previous knowledge and experience with System 1, intralot gaming software programs, and Swiftpos Point of Sale software is desirable.
Demonstrated ability to successfully undertake senior management functions.
Experience in supervising and performing gaming and cash-handling duties.
Demonstrated ability to comply with appropriate legislation.
Demonstrated excellent oral communication skills and the ability to discuss and resolve problems and complaints.
Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and to promote a positive team environment amongst staff.
Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate team development and training to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Previous management experience of Bar and Gaming Operations would be highly advantageous.
An excellent salary package under the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award 2020 in the range $70,000 to $85,000, based on experience, is offered.
