Premium Compliance Officer
- $99,754.00 per annum + 11.5% superannuation
- Full Time, fixed term until 30/6/2026
- Wadawurrung Country / Geelong based role (hybrid model, work from home, 3 days a week in office)
About the role
The Premium Compliance Officer position is responsible for undertaking compliance activities such as audits and reviewing employer self-assessments aimed at ensuring that employers in Victoria are paying their fair share of WorkCover insurance premium.
Primarily this role is responsible for conducting high level reviews of employer self-assessments but will also conduct audits and other investigations to determine compliance with WorkSafe legislation, guidelines and policies.
This role must liaise with employers and their representatives during the review process, providing excellent service, support and education.
Whilst this role sits within the Premium Compliance branch, it is part of a pool of resources which support the broader Return to Work Victoria Business Unit and our Advisory service and will be required to support the operations and initiatives of these areas when called upon.
This role, in forming a broader resource pool, will bring skills and experience that can complement and support other existing Divisional and Business Unit resources.
Key accountabilities
- Determine whether an employer's premium has been correctly calculated in accordance with WorkSafe legislation by conducting reviews such as audits and employer self assessments
- Liaise directly with employers and their representatives during the review process (including undertaking employer site visits), providing a high level of service, support and education
- Interpret and apply complex legislation
- Conduct audits of WorkSafe Agents to ensure they are meeting WorkSafe standards
- Recommend and/or support initiatives across the Return to Work Victoria Business Unit to ensure it meets its strategic vision
- Escalate premium related issues of complexity/sensitivity to the appropriate manager to ensure timely and considered resolution

Skills and experience
- Good level knowledge and understanding of the application of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 and Premiums Orders:
- Ability to identify and apply the best process and appropriate business solutions and escalate recommendations accordingly
- Ability to undertake effective research and analyse material
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and influence in a professional manner with a range of internal and external clients/stakeholders, especially employers
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Business or Finance (Desirable). Alternatively, or in addition to, you will have significant and relevant work experience
