Our client in the Banking/Financial Services industry is seeking a bright and enthusiastic Junior Accountant to join their Finance team in Sydney on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior candidate to learn and develop their skills within accounting.

In this exciting role, you will contribute to:

• Management Reporting: Validating daily profit and loss data, comparing source systems with actual customer trades, and communicating findings to key stakeholders and Head Office. You'll also play a key role in the monthly close process.
• Month-End & Financial Accounting: Supporting the accuracy of our financial records through balance sheet reconciliations and the preparation of month-end journal entries. You'll also assist in the creation of monthly and annual financial statements.
• Head Office Reporting: Preparing essential monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for Head Office, including tax schedules and supplementary financial information.
• Regulatory Compliance: Contributing to the preparation of year-end financial statements for local subsidiaries, assisting with tax-related documentation, and helping with GST (BAS) and IAS returns. You'll also support the year-end external audit process.
• Transaction Management: Processing Accounts Payable and Receivable, ensuring accurate reconciliations, and preparing daily and monthly journal entries in line with accounting policies. You'll also liaise with Business and Operations teams regarding transaction processing.

What you'll bring:

• 1-2 years of practical accounting experience.
• Experience within Banking/Financial Services highly advantageous.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• A solid grasp of fundamental accounting principles and invoicing/payment procedures.
• Proficiency with Excel and SAP experience is desirable.
