Public Sector People are recruiting for an experienced AO7 Principal Finance Officer on behalf of a Queensland State Government Department.

About the role:

Operating within the Corporate Services Division, the Financial Services Branch empowers the department and its stakeholders by providing high-quality advice and support. It achieves this through diligent budget management, rigorous quality assurance and compliance, accurate financial reporting, and the implementation of robust governance and performance management frameworks.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for expert management of the Department's financial ledgers and the production of accurate, timely financial information.
• Oversees the preparation of the Department's annual financial statements, including planning and liaison with relevant parties.
• Provides expert counsel on financial accounting matters, policies, guidelines, methodologies, and systems.
• Applies practical experience to create work schedules and project plans to ensure on-time delivery of key results.
• Leads the collection, analysis, and reporting of financial data to support financial reporting requirements.
• Addresses and resolves challenges arising from changes like Machinery-of-Government to maintain progress towards departmental goals.
• Provides expert guidance and training to staff and contributes to the ongoing improvement of work practices and systems.

Your Experience:
